DESCRIPTION:Long Island Association in Partnership with Governor Andrew Cuomo\n\nNew York State Minority- and Women-Owned Business (MWBE) Forum\n\n\n\nIn 2014\, Governor Andrew Cuomo set a goal to provide 30 percent of state contract dollars to minority- and women-owned enterprises. The MWBE program is designed to increase economic opportunity\, boost job creation and fuel innovation.\n\nLast year\, the LIA Small and Mid-Sized Business Committee hosted a forum to support the expansion of opportunities for MWBEs on Long Island and train companies interested in certification. We will reconvene to assist small businesses with navigating the state's contract opportunities\, including transportation\, construction and information technology\, as well as financial and professional services.\n\n\n\nThere will also be a question and answer session.\n\n\n\nThe LIA Small and Mid-Sized Business Committee is co-chaired by Katherine Heaviside\, President of Epoch 5 Public Relations\, and Ernie Canadeo\, President of The EGC Group\, Inc. It is vice-chaired by Crisler Quick\, President of The Finance Department. The Small and Mid-Sized Business Committee advances positions that support the great majority of Long Island's business community\; our small and mid-sized businesses.
